Mid-Peninsula Series
This is a unique opportunity to develop flexibility and strength, deepen your yoga practice, and create community.
A series of postures will be thoroughly explained and taught as a flowing, dance-like sequence, combining breath and movement synchronization with a strong, dynamic practice. Yoga theory and nutrition discussions will be interspersed with movement sessions, making the elements of this workshop a weaving together of the threads necessary to dramatically strengthen ones practice and take it to the next level.
This workshop will also include an introduction to Siva Nata (Shiva dance), the forgotten forms of Hatha Yoga as well as knowledge of the subtle body, the bundhas and other steps for achieving optimum health.
Shiva Nata brings the arms back to life through the use of spiral movement, a yogic tradition that has been lost for centuries. The character of the spiral movement of the arms is dependent upon the energetic flow in the peripheral channels. Arkadys emphasis on the wave-like movement of the body stimulates this energetic flow. These subtleties in our yoga practice will be investigated, revealed, and practiced in order to deepen our understanding and to free our minds and bodies.
Arkady will introduce the three main bandhas (uddiyana, jalandara, and mula), with the understanding that the use of rhythmic breathing in conjunction with skilled bandha manipulation is the cornerstone of a strong, mature yoga practice.
During his theory segments, Arkady will discuss the system of ethics that accompanies our yoga practice. He will introduce concepts such as yama and niyama, as well as entertain a discussion on proper nutrition and lifestyle awareness.
Arkady challenges and inspires with humor and dedication, and the workshops small size will allow him to work closely with each participant to help them overcome their individual difficulties.
